Planning Commission votes 5-0 in support of 24 homes along College Avenue

Despite a strong showing from Del Cerro residents, and solid testimony from a number of residents, on Thursday, September 14, the Planning Commission voted 5-0 to support the project. It is obvious the city’s interest for in-fill housing is a priority. The project meets the city’s requirements, and that is what the commissioners relied upon to justify their vote. To the commissioners, 24 homes is an insignificant impact on our community.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend the meeting and state their position in opposition before the Planning Commission.

The next, and final step, is the project will go before City Council. The date for City Council action has not been set. Now that it will be a docketed item for the City Council, you may contact the members of the City Council to state your position and encourage the councilmembers to vote against the project.

Thank you,
Jay Wilson, Secretary
Del Cerro Action Council

Thank you very much for the update, Jay, as I was very upset that I couldn’t make the Planning Council meeting that morning (I did go to the other meeting a few months back). However, it seems like one more member of our community would not have made a difference. I will definitely write our council members to not accept the project. I’m beginning to wonder if any of these people in government care about our concerns. However, I’ll start writing and will hope that the city council will have more sense. Thank you for all you do with the Del Cerro Action Council.

    • Susan, I was at the City Council meeting today. Liz Saidkhanian, the Director of Community Outreach for Councilmember Scott Sherman, assured me she will let the community know when the ColRich project is scheduled to be heard at City Council.
