Recently Del Cerro resident Kathy Hughes organized a cleanup of the Del Cerro Blvd. Median working east from Madra Avenue. The group posed in the median just before beginning a three hour cleanup. Throughout the morning 28 people helped out including residents, students from Patrick Henry, Councilmember Scott Sherman and his wife Norma, and two of Councilmember Sherman’s staff. Councilmember Sherman even loaded up his pickup to make two trips to the landfill. We ended up with 8 cubic yards of debris. Thanks to Michael McSweeney and his truck, the remaining debris was transported to the Jacaranda Bowl this past Saturday, and loaded into a dumpster. Kathy commented “I was so impressed with the turnout and how much we accomplished in just one morning. We will be planning another cleanup soon so we can continue working down the median.”
