This Thursday evening we have two excellent speakers at our quarterly Del Cerro Action Council meeting at 7 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El.
**** Because of a memorial service being held at Temple Emanu-El, we will be meeting in the their Library! *****
1) Nextdoor.com is becoming very popular as an upgrade to the traditional “Neighborhood Watch”. Del Cerro has a growing group. Officer Ed Zwibel, the Community Relations Coordinator/Media Services Officer for Police Chief Lansdowne, will present why it is such a viable program, and one he pioneered for San Diego.
2) On September 1, new gas and electric rates will be in place. Pedro Villegas, Director of Community Relations for San Diego Gas & Electric, will fully explain the rate structure, and the role the state legislature and the state public utilities commission played in implementing the new rate structure. Using a power point presentation, he will also explain how the new rates will impact you, particularly if you are in tier 3 or 4 in energy use; either at home or your business. Mr. Villegas will also provide information about what steps we can take to lower our utility bills and the resources available to us from SDG&E.
Initially the mayor was to be our guest speaker. In lieu of the current controversy and legal issues surrounding the mayor, he will not be attending our meeting.
Please pass this information to your friends and neighbors. See you Thursday evening.
Thank you,
Jay Wilson, DCAC
