Three very positive items from the San Diego Police Department – Jay Wilson DCAC
1) Holly Tafoya, our new Community Liaison Officer for Eastern Division, announced Thursday, January 31, at 3:30 p.m., Eastern Division Police Captain Mills would like to walk through our neighborhood (Del Cerro) to hear about some issues and to see how we can help improve our community policing in Del Cerro. We are inviting everyone to come. We will meet in front of Windmill Farms. If you need to reach Officer Tafoya, her email address is HHouchin@pd.sandiego.gov Phone: 858.495.7971
2) I received the following email from Police Officer Ed Zwibel, our former Community Relations Officer for Eastern Division, and now the Community Relations Coordinator for the entire Police Department. Happy New Year Everyone, I hope this email finds you doing better than ever and Happy/ Healthy. To that end, your Eastern Division Police Officers would like to thank you for your generosity in helping us being the process of remodeling our station gym. Our building at Ruffin Road / Aero Drive is antiquated and needs all the attention it can get. The health, safety and well being of your officers is the target goal for the Command Staff and to accomplish a healthier, stronger police staff, we are converting the gym to a hybrid gym / Cross Fit model. I sent out a request for help and was most thankful for the generosity of several individuals and one of our community councils. We are however only about ¼ of the way to our goal and there is still room to give. Any donation will go solely to our gym remodel and you will benefit from a tax deduction, and stronger happier police officers. Please consider if you haven’t had time to, a donation towards this effort. We have very specific needs for equipment and work, and as such monetary donations are the most effective, as donated equipment would not likely suit our efforts in the confined / planned workout space. Below you will find information on how to go about making a donation if you can. Thank you again to all of you in the community. Eastern Division continues to value the close relationship between the officers and community.
Thank you for your consideration. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The San Diego Police Foundation, a nonprofit 501c3, has created a sub account for temporary storage of funds. Tax ID# 33-0785173. The check would need to be written to “The San Diego Police Foundation” with a note in the memo or other line on the check stating “Eastern Division Gym Remodel”. Their address is: 444 West Beech, Ste #250 San Diego, CA 92101.
